The Benefits of Conveyor Ovens

Conveyor ovens utilize continuous motions or indexing with vertical, horizontal, inclined, or even spiral conveying paths. The styles of conveyor used vary, including belted with various materials, powered roller, power and free, chain-on-edge, or overhead. The items that go inside the chamber can be positioned fairly randomly or uniformly, depending on how the oven is being used.

While batch ovens can be a one-size-fits-all thermal processing solution, there are a good number of reasons why you should get something more specialized and opt for conveyor ovens instead.

Automation

The use of a conveyor oven can minimize or even totally eliminate the need for human interaction with the equipment. It can also be easily integrated into your production line, resulting in much more consistent products with fewer to no defects. This means great savings on labour and reruns on products.

Greater Volume

For processing a high volume of products, batch ovens will not be a good option. If ample time is needed to load, heat, cool down, or unload a certain amount of products, conveyor ovens are the best solution. There’s no need to wait for a long time to process certain products at a certain time.

Flexibility

VFDs or variable frequency drives are now very commonly used to change the conveyor speed and you can easily fit one in your own system. This will be helpful in changing the oven set point, residence time of the product in certain heated areas, and other parameters to completely change the oven temperature profile.

With conveyor ovens, your products can be transported through a designated cooling zone because conveyor ovens can be zoned according to a particular temperature profile. This is not possible in a batch oven where the heating and cooling of the product happens within the same zone.
