Streamline Your Production Line with Process Tanks

Most manufacturing industries undergo several stages or processes before the final product is ready to ship. In many of these processes, a tank is a very useful method to store liquid or semi-liquid materials which are to be mixed or needed for the end product. Also called process tanks, storage tanks streamline the various industrial operations involved in pharmaceuticals, chemical, cosmetics, food and beverage, oil and fuel and many other industries.

Apart from storing purposes, process tanks are also used for cooling liquids, blending or mixing different solutions and prepare them for the next process.

In that sense, process tanks serve as a general purpose industrial container that have many configurations. These all depend on dimensions, orientation and the placement of the tank. The materials needed for construction determines what application and type is suitable. The most commonly used materials in process tanks are:

Fiberglass reinforced polyester (FRP) - very strong and has excellent corrosion resistance.

Galvanized steel - cold rolled steel and surface treated with zinc.

Stainless steel - a metal that highly resists corrosion.

Steel - ferrous-based metal with a variety of physical properties, and is used as rolled sheet steel.

Titanium - lightweight but is very strong and are great for extreme temperatures or stresses.

Out of the many specifications involved in designing process tanks, the two most critical parameters are their capacity and dimensions. The capacity of the storage tank is simply the internal volume available for storing materials. Its diameter and length are measured in feet, while its orientation can either be horizontal or vertical. Typically, the placement of process tank can be aboveground or underground, depending on its construction. It can also be portable and fitted with wheels.

Process tanks can also be constructed with special linings for special processes involving corrosives. For applications that require higher pressures, double wall tanks are often needed. Other possible options to modify the tank are glass lined or special coatings, stoppers and special heating facilities. All these modifications are to improve the efficiency of the processes involved.

Given these technical considerations, expertise is a must if you are in need of a process tank.
