4 Different Sources of Heat for Industrial Oven

November 29, 2018

Apart from getting the right type of oven, another important decision to make in selecting a thermal processing machine is to choose the appropriate heat source.

You Can Opt From Among the Four Common Sources of Heat For Your Industrial Oven.

Direct Gas Fired Ovens

This type of gas fired ovens can be operated using either a natural gas or propane. They are classified as Class A because of the products of combustion, which means they are more expensive than the electric heated ovens. However, the operating cost of direct gas fired oven is only at around 25-30% compared to their electric counterparts. This offsets the initial investment in the long run.

Indirect Gas Fired Ovens

Compared to direct gas fired ovens, indirect gas fired costs more initially due to the greater efficiency it provides at around 70%. They use a stainless steel heat exchanger for a much cleaner process as they keep the products of combustion away from the working area. Indirect gas fired ovens also cost less to operate while offering twice as efficient as their electric heated counterparts.

Electric Heated Ovens

This source of heat is more suitable for applications where direct gas fired ovens are not applicable. Electric heated ovens are perhaps the most commonly used and are not costly to buy. They are ideal to use where products of combustion have to be prevented such as in producing aluminum where yellowing may occur if a gas fired oven is used.

Steam Heated Ovens

This type is a great alternative if your facility has an existing sufficient quantities of steam, which is measured in PSI. Your application should be within the lower temperature range of about 300?. Otherwise, it may not work efficiently. It’s also suitable if the quick time-to-temperature is not very crucial. When all these application requirements are met, a steam heated oven provides a very clean way of thermal processing that’s also very cost efficient.
